Development of prefabricated components with minimized cement content by using fine grained secondary materials

Prefadílec is a project dealing with the development of modified types of prefabricated parts with minimized cement content and the use of fine-grained inorganic substitutes based on secondary materials (by-products) that are either not fully utilized or their standard application is very limited.

The sub-project focuses on energy, material and economic savings in the production of precast concrete using recyclable secondary materials (by-products or mineral waste) in civil engineering. Both bar and plate elements are chosen to suitably complement the standard production programme of the industrial partner and subsequently enable the knowledge gained to be developed into other production entities. The outputs of the sub-project support the Waste Management Plan of the Czech Republic, which was approved on 22 December 2014 for the period 2015 - 2024, as well as the national strategy of the Czech Republic for the use of secondary raw materials. The results of the project are intended to be used for industrial or logistics buildings (halls), for prefabricated foundation parts and last but not least as a possible application in transport construction.

In December, the PREFADÍLEC project was extended until the end of 2022 and expanded with three functional sample results.

Planned project results

  • Precast concrete composite slab-shaped component with minimised cement content

  • Composite acoustic precast part

  • Prefabricated bearing element with cement minimisation and use of natural fibres (PNP-PV)

  • Prefabricated trough type element with low cement content and substitution of alternative binder

  • Optimised concrete type C30/37 or SCC30/37 using an alternative binder as a cement replacement in combination with an artificial aggregate in excess of 50 %-hm.

  • Vibroformed precast element with a new formulation maximising the use of recycled materials and an alternative binder based on fly ash and slag, together with minimising the cement content
